How to Style a Handmade Streetwear Tie (Streetwear Meets Tailoring)
Share
A tie is one of the fastest ways to make a streetwear outfit look intentional instead of thrown together. Here's how we style ours.
1. Wear it loose, not corporate-tight
Skip the tight Windsor knot. A slightly loose knot, a couple inches of slack, or even an undone top button reads as streetwear, not office. That imperfection is the point.
2. Layer over a graphic tee or hoodie
Our favorite combination: a handmade denim or patchwork tie over a plain or graphic tee, under an open jacket. The contrast between a tailoring piece and streetwear basics is where the look lives.
3. Let the tie be the one loud piece
If your tie is a bold upcycled pattern, keep the rest of the fit simple — black, denim, or neutral tones — so the tie reads as a statement rather than getting lost.
4. Pair with denim, not just suiting
A denim jacket or jean set with a tie underneath is a signature RICHOUTHEBOX combination — it takes two ideas that supposedly don't belong together and makes them look like they always did.
