The Story Behind Our Upcycled Denim: One-of-a-Kind Streetwear Made in NYC

Most denim you own started as raw cotton, dyed, cut, and sewn into a shape a factory decided on before it ever touched your body. Ours starts differently — with a jacket, a pair of jeans, or a scrap of fabric that already lived a life before it found us.

Why upcycled denim, and not new fabric?

Denim production is one of the most water- and chemical-intensive processes in fashion. Every piece we upcycle is one less garment pulled from a landfill and one less new pair of jeans manufactured from scratch. That's the core of our motto: "Be good to your garment."

What makes a piece 1-of-1

Because we start from existing denim rather than a bolt of identical fabric, no two RICHOUTHEBOX pieces are ever truly the same — even within the same style or drop. The wear patterns, the fade, the exact placement of a patch or seam: these come from the garment's original life, not a pattern file.

NYC-built, streetwear-first

We build every piece in New York City, treating denim, streetwear silhouettes, and hand construction as one continuous process rather than separate steps. It's slower than mass production. It's also the only way we know how to make something that actually means something.
