One-of-one RICHOUTHEBOX runway pieces at New York Fashion Week

Bespoke Streetwear: How a Custom RICHOUTHEBOX Commission Works

Off-the-rack fashion asks you to fit into it. Bespoke asks what you want to say. At RICHOUTHEBOX, our bespoke line — Avant-Good — is where we design one-of-one garments around a single person: their story, their occasion, their body. Here's how a custom streetwear commission works.

Who commissions a bespoke piece?

Artists preparing for a performance or a cover shoot. Stylists who need something no one else will be wearing. Couples dressing for a wedding or an event that deserves more than a rental. Collectors who simply want a piece that exists nowhere else. If you've ever looked at a runway look and wished it had been made for you, this is that.

The process

  1. Inquiry. Tell us about the occasion, timeline, budget and the feeling you want to create through our commission inquiry form.
  2. Conversation. We talk through references, colors and meaning. Many of our pieces carry a story — a number, a word, a memory — and yours can too.
  3. Concept. We return with a design direction: silhouette, materials and techniques such as hand-dyeing, screen-printing, spray-painting and upcycled denim appliqué.
  4. Measurements and fittings. We take your measurements and schedule fittings where needed.
  5. Construction. The piece is built by hand, step by step, in our New York studio.
  6. Delivery. Your garment arrives finished, one of one, and never remade.

How long does it take?

Timelines depend on complexity and season. As a rule, the earlier you reach out, the more freedom we have — especially before events, fashion week and the holidays.

Why bespoke streetwear?

Traditional bespoke tailoring is about perfect fit. Bespoke streetwear adds self-expression: the color, texture and attitude that make a garment yours. It sits at the intersection of craft and culture — the same intersection where RICHOUTHEBOX was born.

Not ready for a full commission?

Start with a piece that's already one of one. Every look in our NYFW SS27 collection and archive was made once. Or explore limited, numbered editions of the GOODIE BAG — we also create custom GOODIE BAG colorways on request.
